QUESTION 6

Can you tie the steam of a cherry with your tongue?⁽¹⁾

MASHIRO: Ahー I can, I can.

TSUGUMI: Eh, fo’ real?!

MITSURU: I’ve never done that before.

HAIJI: Neither do I.

MASHIRO: Precisely! Gan-chan, our very astute manager in RUBIA Leopard, sent our way some cherries! Ta-dah!

HAIJI: Ahー... I was wondering why they were there, but for it to be for that kind of use…

MASHIRO: Hnー (munch munch) Here.

MITSURU: Ooohー

TSUGUMI: Awesome!

MASHIRO: Alright, your turn everyone!

AKANE: Ya' want us to do it right here, right now?

HIBARI: Is it really worth the effort?

KURONO: Agreed.

MASHIRO: Come ooon, it’s fine. It’s only like a party game, alright? Here, Toki-kun.

TOKI: Huh? Why me?

MASHIRO: The fact that you’ve been silent all along tells me you can perfectly do it.

TOKI: …

AKANE: Ya' really just went for the easily impressed rookie.

MASHIRO: Humans are weak creatures, aren’t they~

TOKI: … (chewing) Hn.

MASHIRO: There, see?

TSUGUMI: You really can do anything, Tokiー!!

MITSURU: I’ll do it too. … (chomp chomp) Shere.

TSUGUMI: Ehー!! So coolー! Me too, me too!!

HAIJI: Huhh... I think I will try after the interview.

MITSURU: Do you want to test with a longer-stem?

MASHIRO: What about you, Hibari-kun?

HIBARI: I don't see the need to do it, so I'll pass.

MASHIRO: Wow, rude. ⁽²⁾

TSUGUMI: (aggressively masticating)

AKANE: You're trying too hard-

TSUGUMI: Shaddapー!

MASHIRO: How about you do it yourself, Akane-chan?

AKANE: You’re supposed ta’ put it like that, right?

HAIJI: Ah, Akane-sanー When did you learn that!?

KURONO: As expected of Akane-san!

MASHIRO: Yes, yes, just as expected, no fun, zero surprise. Now, your turn Kurono.

KURONO: Like Hibari-kun, I don’t see a point in me doing it.

MASHIRO: Aah, I should have figured you couldn’t~ That’s right~ Sorry to have imposed that, my bad.

KURONO: Whaddya say!? I can do it if I want!!

AKANE: Wait a second there, Kurono.

KURONO: I can’t back down and let that asshole make fun of me!

HAIJI: Uhh, Kurono-san… I also think you should tone down your determination…

HIBARI: That is right. You don’t have to desperately prove that you are a good kisser for this interview.

KURONO: …? Ha?

TOKI: There's this popular belief that if you can tie a cherry’s stem with your tongue, then you're a good kisser. I don’t think it proves anything though…

MITSURU: What, seriously? I didn’t know that.

HIBARI: Wonder who is going to react first to this information...

KURONO: MASHIRO!!

HIBARI: Oh, he is bright red.

MASHIRO: Thaaat’s whyyy I said right at the beginning that it was like a party game.

KURONO: You bastard…!!

TSUGUMI: Oh, wow! Hey, these cherries are real’ good, aren't they?

AKANE: Ya, you’re just eating them now. (laughs)

TOKI: You completely missed the point, didn’t you...

⁽¹⁾
It’s a common trick done in bars and parties, generally when serving stemmed maraschino cherries, to prove one’s dexterity. Generally means that the person is a good kisser.

⁽²⁾ I first intended to translate it as “Yikes, got busted” since the whole theme is very ambiguous (and Hibari perfectly knows it, on top of knowing Mashiro's intent), but I felt like this was funnier.
