Big Bro Oshiro's Counseling🌻 ①
QUESTION, by Yon: “Hello, Oshiro-kun! I’ve been supporting you for a while, and I’d like to thank you for all the amazing songs you produce! Lately, I’ve been really worried about my future. I don’t have ambitions or goals I want to achieve, I’m just… I feel lost. Maybe I’m scared to take the first step… Were you also scared when you first jumped into pursuing music as a career?”
OSHIRO: First, I want ya to know there ain't nothin' wrong with not havin’ goals lined up right from the get-go. In fact, that leaves you with a whole lot of doors for you to open! You’re never forced to make a choice if you ain’t feelin’ it. The choice is always yours.
I’m sure you’re torturin’ yourself over what-if scenarios where you don’t land on a clear decision, and that your future will be shot. To that, I say: you’re overthinkin' it. The world ain't gonna end tomorrow. Your life is yours to live. You got every right to do what you please, whenever you please, with or without a life's purpose.
When I started makin’ music, I knew deep down that’s what I was meant for, and that’s probably why I dove right in without a second thought. We ain't in the same boat, sure, but the feelin’ is the same: you should follow the path that lights you up. You just gotta put in some effort and aim for somethin' good for yourself. Take your time, I know you’ll find what you’re lookin' for—I hope I helped in my own way too!

QUESTION, by Kiyu: “I’m currently in my senior year in Kumamoto. With graduation right around the corner, my friends and I are going on a trip to Tokyo to celebrate but here’s the kicker: we have nothing planned once we’re there. Do you have any recommendations or hot spots worth hitting? Did you also go on a graduation trip? I’d love to have your input!”
OSHIRO: Hol’up, you mean to say you’re graduating THIS MONTH!? CONGRATS! When it comes to Tokyo, there’s a heap of stuff to see and do. I know you’ll find somethin’ that tickles your fancy!
Personally, I’d recommend Asakusa! I’d say hit up Kaminari-mon first (I know that gets me all pumped up), then stroll down the nearby shopping street: trust me, the snacks there are top-notch! You can also pay a visit to the Sensoji Temple, or snag a fortune slip while you’re there! And if y’all still got the energy, make your way over to Odaiba! The night view gon’ take your breath away!
I’d be doin’ y’all a disservice as both a student and a composer if I didn’t say to drop by the COLORATION Headquarters in Shibuya. You can get a feel of a whole ton of cultures and styles there!
Hope y’all can plan ahead real good to make the most outta that graduation trip! Enjoy every minute and make lastin’ memories! I’ll be thinking ‘bout y’all for sure!!

QUESTION, by Tsukimi: “I want to be closer to my juniors, but I don’t know how! If you were in their shoes, how would you like your seniors to break the ice?
Is there anything specific you would like to do once you’ve become a senior yourself?”
OSHIRO: First, hats off to you! You must be a wonderful person to have around, ‘cause not everybody goes outta their way to get to know their juniors with that kinda care!
Personally, I sure do appreciate seniors who genuinely wanna know how I’m doin’, or if something is weighin’ on me. But if it were me, I’d be all about hittin’ up some grub or gettin’ out and about with my juniors!
Ain't no need to push it, though. I reckon the real fun is in the li’l things, like makin' a stop on the way home while yappin' away. Try to talk to them a little more, I’m sure they’ll open up to you in a jiffy! You can do it!

QUESTION, by Yuuri: “Hi, Oshiro-kun! My life is going to take a fresh new start this April, but I’m growing nervous at the idea: not only will I be in a new environment, but I will be far from all my relatives.
I’m terrible at making new friends, and I know from experience… Please, teach me your secrets to make friends the way you do!
Keep up the good work and take care of yourself! I’m rooting for you!”
OSHIRO: Hey, hey, heyyy! Congratulations on taking the first steps to a new life!
Moving places ain’t no cakewalk, and it sure is nerve-wracking. But you're gonna be just fine! Ain’t no right or wrong way to meet new people, but you gotta keep in mind not to hurry the friendship along.
Personally, I like to introduce myself first to others. Mighty simple, I know, but that first impression sure does count! After that, just find somethin’ you both enjoy chattin’ about, and it’ll be smooth sailin’! You might wanna try the old but gold, “What kinda music you like?” or bring up their hobbies; you’ll bridge the distance sooner than you think.
The lesson here is, don’t try to bend fate just to make new friends. If you stay true to yourself, you’ll connect with like-minded people in a blink! Good luck, and enjoy your new beginnings!

QUESTION, by Hoshi: “I have submitted my novels to plenty of contests, and although I have made it to the finals with honorable mentions, I have never been able to grab the grand prize. But I know I will, one day! I’ll fulfil my dream!
It would make my day if you could give me some advice, scold me, or cheer me on!”
OSHIRO: Well, ain’t that somethin’! You’re a mighty brave one, keepin' your chin up to chase after your dream! Reachin’ the finals an’ earnin’ honours are only proof that you’re made for this!
I sure empathise with why you wanna win the big prize at least once! But don't forget why you’re puttin' pen to paper, and the happiness it brings you: chasin’ after better results isn‘t all there is.
Never stop tryin’, an’ never stop believing in what you achieved thus far!
Your efforts will be rewarded. Your dream will come true, trust me. So let’s keep workin’ hard to turn these fantasies into a reality!
