“The Root of His Small Attentions”
Akira: Phew, that was so good!
(With all the desserts we’ve been given, I keep itching for more of that chocolate cake: it’s incredibly addictive! I guess I could have another teeny-tiny serving… Hmm…)
Heathcliff: Master Sage, I can cut you another slice of chocolate cake if you so desire.
Akira: Oh, Heath! Well I can’t say no to that offer. If you don’t mind serving me…
Heathcliff: Of course not. Here, enjoy.
Akira: Thank you!
(...Hm? Is it me, or is this slice slightly bigger than the last I had?)
Heathcliff: Oh, um… Was that too much? If so, I apologise.
Our personnel often share their favourite dishes this way without ever admitting so, and I’m honoured to be at the receiving end of this silent confidence, so I thought I could try doing so with you…
Akira: D’aw, Heathcliff, that’s so sweet of you! You're too kind with me.
(He looked so relaxed and nonchalant, I wouldn’t have guessed a fraction of the attentive care he put into tending to my craving. The Blanchett’s personnel undeniably lives up to their name: they’re equally kind as they are talented.)
Heathcliff: It goes without saying, Master Sage. If you allow me, I’d like to pour you a cup of tea.
Akira: Yes, glad—
Heathcliff: Here’s sugar and some milk to top… Oh, and we can’t forget scones and jam for accompaniment.
Aren’t you cold? Here, take this blanket, and—
Akira: Woah-wai-wait…! I think I have a little too much on my plate now…
Heathcliff: O-Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t realise…!
Akira: Don’t worry, it’s fine! I’m curious though: do your attendants go through such extents for you as well?
Heathcliff: No, not really… It’s, just…
…I was so enthusiastic about waitering for you that I got carried away, so…
Akira: (So that was simply Heath’s way of caring for someone’s needs…)
I’m touched, thank you for going above and beyond for me, really!
Heathcliff: It’s only natural. My catering skills may need some more polishing, but…
As long as you enjoyed this moment, then I consider my duty done.
