Pseudo-Cat Experience
Akira: Somewhere where the cats could gather... As expected, nothing. And here I thought there might be some sort of clue in the Sage’s book...
I want to pet cats... I haven't come across one in a while, and I feel like abstinence might begin to kick in.
???: Meow.
Akira: …! That sound just now...
Murr: Did I spook you?
Akira: ...Was that you just now, Murr?
Murr: The one and only!
Akira: (The timing was too good to be true, that’s why I got startled... I was so sure...)
Murr: What’s wrong, Master Sage?
Are you upset? Did you take some poison? Was it good? Want some more?
Akira: Well… It’s not supposed to be good to begin with, so I’ll pass.
Murr: Next time you do have some, let’s have a toast!
Akira: You can drink that sort of thing, Murr!?
Murr: Today, I can! I don't know about tomorrow, though! Oh, look at that, a huge bug!
Akira: ( ...That’s our Murr, whimsical and overly curious.)
…Just like a cat.
Murr: A cat? Where?
Akira: Ah, no, I just… Thought you felt a little, you know, cat-like...
Murr: Aha! So you meant me? Alright, let’s play cats then!
Akira: “Play cats”, you say?
Murr: Yes, I'm a cat now! You can pet me if you want, Master Sage.
Akira: What? But...
Murr: You don't want to?
Akira: I do… I’ll take your word for it then, but just for a bit...
(Alright, just a little petting, juuust for a bit...)
There, there.
Murr: Meooow.
Akira: (...Is he eye-smiling? It really feels like petting a cat.) (1)
Murr: Was it fun?
Akira: It was... Thank you.
Murr: Do you want to turn into a cat, Master Sage?
Akira: Well, that's... I guess it could be fun...?
(1) For those who don’t have cats around, they usually express happiness through slow blinking and narrowing their gaze, which is often coined with the term “cat smile”. I didn’t use the latter as it would create a heavy repetition, unpleasant to read.
